The Cisco CBS350-24T-4G is a managed Layer 2/Layer 3 switch aimed at small to medium business networks. It provides 24 auto-sensing Gigabit RJ-45 ports plus 4 SFP uplink ports. The “350” series is designed to combine enterprise-grade features (VLANs, QoS, multi-layer routing, security) with simple management via the Cisco Business Dashboard or on-box GUI.
It is fanless (i.e. silent) in most operating ranges, making it suitable for office environments, and supports stacking so multiple switches can be managed as one logical unit.
The switch is built with an 800 MHz ARM processor and typically has 512 MB of memory (RAM).
It supports both Layer 2 switching and some Layer 3 routing capabilities (static routing, RIP, PBR) for greater flexibility in designing the network.
Here are some of the main features the CBS350-24T-4G offers:
Switching / Performance & Ports
24 × 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports (auto-sensing)
4 × 1 Gbps SFP (fiber) uplink ports
Switching capacity: 56 Gbps
Forwarding rate: 41.66 Mpps (for 64-byte packets)
Internal architecture supporting high throughput and low latency
Layer 2 & VLAN Support
Up to 4,094 VLANs (802.1Q) supported simultaneously
Port-based, MAC-based, protocol-based, IP subnet VLAN assignment
VLAN translation, Q-in-Q, selective Q-in-Q
Private VLAN (isolated / community / promiscuous) and Private VLAN Edge (PVE) / protected ports
Guest VLAN, unauthenticated VLAN, dynamic VLAN via RADIUS + 802.1x
Layer 3 / Routing
Static IPv4 / IPv6 routing RIP v2 support
Policy-Based Routing (PBR) for more flexible forwarding based on ACLs
DHCP server capabilities (multiple pools)
DHCP relay on Layer 3 / Layer 2 (Option 82)
Link Aggregation & Redundancy
Support for IEEE 802.3ad / LACP: up to 8 groups, each up to 8 ports, with 16 candidate ports per dynamic group
Loopback detection, UDLD (Unidirectional Link Detection) to prevent miswiring loops
Spanning Tree Protocol variants & protection (RSTP, etc.)
Multicast & QoS / Traffic Control
IGMP v1/v2/v3 snooping, supports ~2K multicast groups
IGMP Querier & IGMP proxy support
QoS / CoS / DSCP classification and scheduling
Voice VLAN (automatic assignment and QoS for VoIP)
Rate limiting, storm control, broadcast / multicast / unknown unicast control
Stacking & Management
Hardware stacking: up to 4 units can be stacked and managed as one (up to 200 ports)
Stack-level failover / redundancy
Management via Cisco Business Dashboard, on-box GUI, CLI, SNMP, REST APIs
Zero-touch provisioning & voice device discovery (VSDP)
IPv6 support, ACLs, security features (IP-MAC binding, port security)
Reliability, Environmental & Certifications
Fanless design (silent) in normal temperature range (no internal fans)
Operating temperature: –5 to 50 °C (23° to 122 °F) Storage temperature: –25 to 70 °C
Humidity: 10% to 90% non-condensing (both operating and storage)
Acoustic noise: as fanless, negligible in normal environments; MTBF ~2,026,793 hours at 25 °C for this model
Certifications: UL 62368, CSA 22.2, CE, FCC Part 15 Class A
